Smith Statement on Misleading White House Stimulus Numbers

WASHINGTON – Congressman Lamar Smith issued the following statement after the White House again claimed that their $787 billion stimulus “created or saved” jobs:

“The White House is living in the land of make-believe,” said Smith. “The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows more than three million Americans have lost their jobs this year. The Administration also said that the stimulus would create 269,000 jobs in Texas, but we lost 225,300. In this case, the administration is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.”
