Smith Joins Tea Party Caucus

Congressman Lamar Smith announced that he has joined the new Tea Party Caucus, which held its first meeting today with 30 members attending.  The congressional caucus was formed by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN). 

 “All true reform starts with the voice of the people, not politicians in Washington,” Smith said.  “It is the American people who will turn our country in the right direction.  I strongly support the Tea Party’s principles of fighting reckless government spending, upholding our Constitution and protecting the traditional values upon which our nation was founded. Members of Congress don’t speak for the Tea Party, we listen to the Tea Party, and together we can help return America to greatness.”
